This will substantially save on cost, and they are readily available. For the minority of homeowners who own custom doors, most custom doors are able to be sized by the ⅛”, which allows for a precise fit.
Depending on the manufacturer, some may offer standard size 8’ tall doors. However, there are usually fewer styles available.
If you currently have a transom or sidelite as a part of your front entry door unit, you have a few options. The first is to replace your front door unit with the same configuration that it currently has.
Doors are built as units, meaning the transom/sidelights are a part of the same frame as the door slab, so they should not be individually replaced. A second option is to change the configuration of your new door unit within the rough opening.
This could include opting for a taller door instead of a transom or a double door if the opening allows.
If you currently have a storm door, you have some options for installation. You could purchase a new storm door that’s ordered specifically for your new door unit or choose to reinstall your existing storm door.
While we don’t recommend reinstalling an old storm door on your new front door, your salesperson can determine if that’s possible and will charge separately for reinstallation if you choose to.
